Dallas Area Basketball Coaches Code of Ethics
The Dallas Area Basketball Coaches (DABC), the professional organization for coaches of basketball teams in the Greater Dallas Area, has adopted the following Code of Ethics:
As the most influential person on the basketball court, and in the interest of good sportsmanship and sound educational endeavor, I, the basketball coach from the Dallas Area will strive to abide by the following:
· Demonstrate sportsmanship and positive relations on and the court. · Work with Officials to insure the integrity of the game, to mutually exemplify high moral character. · To secure a better understanding of problems of basketball coaching in Dallas and to place at the disposal of coaches sources of information. · Respect the opponent, initially extending and providing a warm, safe, and friendly playing environment, and summative displaying modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat. · Respect the integrity and personality of ALL athletes, coaches, administrators, media and fans. · Know and abide by the rules of the game. · Demonstrate proud, positive interest in my profession through personal improvement and the directed encouragement toward membership in the Dallas Area Basketball Coaches. · Strive to genuinely promote learning by supporting all academic endeavors of all athletes for their entire career. · Encourage, through standards of conduct, direction and example, the growth and development of leadership, initiative, and good judgment in young athletes.
